AFL

The AFL, or American Football League, was a
football league that was separate but in competition with the
NFL from
1960 to 1969. The
Dallas Texans, who later became the
Kansas City
Chiefs were members of the AFL. After the Texans moved to Kansas
City and became the Chiefs, they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in
Superbowl IV.
The following year the AFL became an official part
of the NFL, entering the NFL as the "AFC". The AFC that exists
today in the NFL is comprised of the teams that were once a part of the
AFL. The Chiefs are members and current champions of the
AFC West
division.
